Pakistani jets launched strikes on Taliban hideouts in the northwest on Thursday, killing at least 30 people according to an updated toll from security sources, in retaliation for attacks by the militants which have derailed peace talks. The attacks in the country's troubled North Waziristan come a day after Taliban insurgents said they are ready to observe a ceasefire to allow the resumption of stalled peace talks, provided Pakistani security forces stop killing and arresting them.
