President Barack Obama will wait until after November's midterm elections to reform the US immigration system, in a clear bid to shield lawmakers crucial to the Democratic Party's hopes of clinging on to the Senate.
A White House official said Saturday that Obama had taken the decision to hold off on using his presidential powers to remake a system Congress has failed to fix until after congressional polls.
