Portugal will end its bailout from the EU and IMF on May 17 without requesting a further line of credit, Prime Minister Pedro Passos Coelho said on Sunday. "The government decided that we will exit our rescue programme without resorting to any precautionary programme," Passos Coelho said during a live television broadcast, adding that decision was the "best for the interests of Portugal."
