Pope Francis has sacked a Paraguayan bishop who had been implicated in a child sex abuse cover-up scandal, the Vatican said Thursday, citing only "serious" reasons for the move.
"The holy father has decided to replace Mgr (Rogelio Lieveres) Plano," the Vatican said in a statement that referred to a "painful decision taken for serious pastoral reasons."
