Cairo - MENA
100 million cubic meters of dry digging have been completed so far, the New Suez Canal Project supervisor Kamal el-Waziri has said.
"Dredging of the New Suez Canal also goes on regularly," el-Waziri, who is also the chief of staff of the Armed Forces' Engineering Authority, told MENA in statements on Saturday.
The project is implemented under the supervision of the Armed Forces.
While launching the project, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi said it would be completed within a year, instead of a previous deadline of three years.
Sisi receives daily reports to check on work progress in the ambitious project.
