Fifty six vessels transited the Suez Canal in both directions on Wednesday, six days after the official opening of the New Suez Canal.

The north-bound convoy included 24 ships carrying about 1.3 million tons, according to a statement by the Suez Canal Authority.

The south-bound convoy included 32 vessels carrying about 2.1 million tons, the statement added.
