Abdulrahman Mohamed Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Director-General of the Municipality and Planning Department, has launched the strategic project 'Sanad' in cooperation with Huawei, the giant telecommunications and information technology corporation.
The project aims to build and update technical infrastructure services by applying the latest and advanced technology that ensures information and networks security, agility, and easily converting to cloud computing technology and internet of things.
Sanad is being carried out in cooperation with Huawei, as the municipality and Planning Department seeks to utilise the latest global technologies to facilitate provision of outstanding and specifically designed user experiences for client satisfaction, taking into account the speed of transition of modern technology platforms.
Youssef Mohamed Abdullah Al Shaibah, Director of Smart Services Development Administration, said that the Sanad project was specifically designed to be the foundation to build a new generation of interactive services to support the department's approach in applying the best practices in the area of the Internet of Things, cloud computing, increasing information security and sustainability of services, as well as providing maximum production capacity and programming capacity by which the department will respond to the clients’ needs and will work on reducing operating costs by over 40 percent, and reducing the consumption of the space allocated to services by 70 percent.
In addition, the system will facilitate submitting enhanced applications and will increase the speed of providing services to the department’s network, becoming the core of future projects.
Alaa Al Sheimi, Regional Director and Deputy Head of Huawei Enterprise Group of the Projects and Facilities Sector, praised the vision of the Municipality and Planning Department and the high technical capabilities, strategic development and the excellence of its technical team. He explained that the internet of things and cloud computing will be relied on in the coming period as a safe mean of storage and the stability and continuity of services.
