Cairo - MENA
Trade and Industry Minister Tareq Qabil said on Sunday that the growth rate of Egyptian Industry has hit 20% in September, according to statement by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
Egypt's imports have dropped by dollars 7 billion since the start of 2016, the minister said during a press conference, adding that despite the increase of exports it is still less than imports.
He noted that the gap between imports and exports would be bridged through increasing national production as well as small and medium-sized industries.
In statements to MENA, Qabil said that transformative industries were behind the growth reported last month.
