CAPMAS: Inflation rate up 0.7% in July

The inflation rate inched 0.7 percent up in July to stand at 191.1 points against 189.9 points in June, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) said.

CAPMAS said - in a bulletin a copy of which MENA obtained on Wednesday - the inflation rate from January to July stood at 11.1 percent in comparison with the correspondent period last year.

Prices of food and beverages increased by 0.8 percent in July compared with the previous month. Prices have increased by 19.1 percent compared with May of the previous year.

Urban consumer inflation rate in July also ratcheted up by 14.8 percent year on year and 0.7 percent month on month. In rural areas, inflation recorded a rise of 0.6 percent in July month on month and recorded 15.7 percent year on year
