The cabinet on Wednesday approved a proposal to push up the ceiling of exemption from the income tax to EGP 6,500.

Under the new decision, the workers of both private and public sectors who receive less than EGP 6,500 per month would be exempted from income taxation.

The decision is part of a plan to help the low-income citizens overcoming their daily challenges.

The plan includes adding the new born children to the supplies smart-card system and social insurance program.
