Egypt's cash reserves lost about 500 million dollars last August to hit 18.09 billion dollars against 18.5 billion dollars in July, the Central Bank of Egypt said on Monday.

The slight decline was expected in light of providing dollars by the CBE in order to meet the country's needs of importing basic food commodities, bankers told MENA in statements Monday.
