Highlighting the achievements in developing relations with the private sector to provide environment-friendly jobs, the Minister of Manpower stressed on the Economic Diversification Programme ‘ Tanfeedh’ and its role in diversification and enhancing the private sector role in tourism sector.
Tourism is one of the promising sectors in terms of generating job opportunities, he said.
As part of the Sultanate’s participation in the 106th session of the International Labour Conference held in Switzerland, Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser Al Bakri, Minister of Manpower delivered a speech during the general session.
He also highlighted the ‘’Sharaka’’ programme with the private sector and its role in providing a unique infrastructure for dialogue between the government and private sector to ensure economic diversification and development and enhancing entrepreneurship.
He also highlighted the role of the Sultanate in training and development to supply the labour market with qualified human resources.
The general session discussed, as well the report of the Director General on the green initiative – providing decent and environment friendly job opportunities. It also discussed the chairman of the board of director of the International Labour Bureau. The session also discussed technical issues of the conference.
The topics discussed included decent work, the ability to withstand and the strategic aim from the basic rights and principles in labour.
It should be noted that the Sultanate’s delegation included members of the tripartite parties namely the Ministry of Manpower, Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the General Federation of Oman Trade Unions (GFOTU).
