An oil spill in Alexandria port was contained, the Environment Ministry said Friday.
The oil spill, span 160 meters, was first reported by the Alexandria Port Authority.
The oil slot - caused by an Egyptian ship - was confined between the pier and the hull.
Minister of Environment Khaled Fahmi ordered the authorities concerned to handle the oil spill as soon as possible.
A report was made and the ship was banned from leaving the dockside till the end of the investigations by the bodies concerned.
Under the law, the company owning the ship will be fined.
