The Sultanate of Oman's consumer inflation in December 2016 increased by 1.13% compared with prices in the same month of 2015, according to the latest report issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
A price escalation of 9.42% in the transport set, along with a 0.58% rise in prices of housing, water, electricity and fuels set contributed significantly to the inflation.
The other sets in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) basket of goods and services that logged a price rise included restaurants and hotels at 0.48%, education at 2.85%, and furnishings, household equipment and maintenance at 0.62%.
The health segment too registered an upward price movement at 0.66% in the month of December compared with last year, the report said.
