With abundant supplies of fish in the local markets, their prices in the Sultanate's governorates have shown a remarkable decrease during Ramadan.
Customers have now many options to make their purchases, such as the fish markets, the fish sale outlets and fish sale and marketing companies.
The price of 1 kg of Sahwa fish declined from OMR1.2 in the first week of Ramadan to OMR1 in the second week at the fish market in the Wilayat of Barka in the Governorate of South Al Batinah.
The price of 1 kg of Habsa fish declined from OMR1.2 in the first week of Ramadan to 900 baisas in the second week.
One kg of Qad fish is being sold at 800 baisas. The selling price of Gaithar, Sal and Safi fish remain stable at OMR2 per kg.
Juma Mohammed Omar Al Balushi, Director of Fisheries Development Department in the Wilayat of Barka said that having multiple outlets for selling fish and abundant supplies contributed to price stability of some fish and decrease in the price of other fish.
