Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Khaled Hanafi said that strategic reserve of wheat is enough until May.
In a statement on Friday, Hanafi said that the quantities increased after recent contracts which included importing 235,000 tons of wheat from France, Russia, and Romania. The import will start in February 20 for 10 days. he added.
The ministry contracted to buy the wheat via international tenders to provide flour to produce subsidized bread in 26,000 bakeries nationwide.
A joint committee from various authorities will scan the imported wheat after arrival at Egyptian ports.
