Sudan announced a number of agreements to be signed with China during Sudanese President Omar Bashir's visit to Beijing slated to start on Monday.

In statements to Sudanese Ashorooq TV Channel on Saturday, Minister of Transport and Roads Makkawi Mohammed Ahmed said Sudan will ink a contract with a Chinese company to build a new 1,000-km railway line in eastern Sudan, adding that Bashir will attend the signing ceremony after a Chinese bank provided 1.4 billion dollars to fund the project.

He added that another agreement will be signed with another Chinese company to buy nine ferries that will be delivered before the end of 2015.

The Sudanese president will also attend the signing ceremony of an agreement to buy two Airbus planes, the minister said.

Bashir will start an official visit to China on Monday to attend the celebrations marking the anniversary of its victory over Japan in the World War II.
