Minister of Supply Mohamed Ali Meselhi said on Monday that 75,000 tons of rice will be pumped into the ministry's outlets within the coming few days.

During a meeting with directors of supply departments, Meselhi said 35,000 tons of rice have been already pumped into the outlets of the ministry and the consumption complexes to meet citizens' needs.

Meselhi noted that the ministry holds local and international tenders to make a safe strategic stockpile of rice not less than 500,000 tons.

He added that the strategy of the ministry aims at having sufficient commodities for the next six months.

Meselhi directed the directors to follow up the daily arrival of goods in the governorates.

The recent economic decisions raised the subsidy presented to the citizens to EGP 49 billion as regards ration goods and bread.
