Fifty-seven ships transited the Suez Canal on Saturday, with a total cargo of four million tons, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority Mohab Mamish said Saturday.
The south-bound convoy included 24 ships laden with 1.9 million tons while the north-bound convoy included 33 vessels carrying 2.1 million tons, Mamish said.
It is a record number for vessels and its cargo volumes in one day, he said, adding this boded well for Egypt and its economy
