Cairo - MENA
Nine companies were chosen for the international planning contest to develop slums in downtown Cairo, known as Maspero Triangle, said Cairo deputy governor Mohamed Ayman Abdel Tawab.
The nine companies are from Jordan, the US, Germany, Japan, Italy, Canada and Korea, he added in statements to MENA.
He further said that such companies were given the main data of the project, adding that they will start studies related to the project.
A panel will be formed to choose the winner, he added.
Bordering the River Nile and Egypt’s revolutionary epicenter Tahrir Square, the triangle-shaped plot of land is home to around 14,000 residents. (
