Eurozone deflation

Euro area annual inflation was down to 0.6 percent in January, from 0.2 percent in December. This was the lowest rate recorded since July 2009.
EU annual inflation was down to 0.5 percent in January, from 0.1 percent in December.
These figures were released Tuesday by Eurostat, the EU statistical office.
In January, negative inflation annual rates were observed in twenty-three EU Member States Drop in prices of fuels for transport, heating oil and telecommunications had the biggest downward impacts on inflation, it noted.
