The Week "Doing business in Algeria" which will be held from 27 to 30 October in Chicago and Washington DC will allow to present the business opportunities in Algeria to the US potential investors.
Led by Minister of Industry and Mining Abdesselam Bouchouareb, the Algerian delegation assigned to present the investment possibilities in Algeria is composed of forty public and private managers, delegates of Employers organizations as well as senior officials from the various institutions of support to investment in the country.
Organized jointly by the Industry and Mines Ministry and the US-Algerian Business Council (USABC), the Algerian Week on Investment will be devoted to the presentation of the bilateral business opportunities in the industries of public works, energy, mines, as well as the pharmaceutical and mechanical industries and food industry.
Examples of successful Algerian-American partnerships will be also presented to the US businessmen, namely the joint venture between General Electric and Sonelgaz for the building of an industrial complex specializing in the manufacture of gas turbines, steam turbines, generators and control systems.
Besides, the already operational joint venture for the manufacturing of farming tractors was concluded in 2012 between US constructor n AGCO Massey Ferguson and two Algerian companies of agricultural equipment ETRAG and PMAT.
The other partnership project which will be discussed is the creation of the biotechnology pole of Sidi Abdallah (Algiers) and which draft agreement was signed last June in San Diego (California) by the Algerian laboratory of control of pharmaceutical products and the American Foundation for Industrial and Pharmaceutical Research (PhRMA, based in Washington DC).
Through this US-Algerian Strategic Partnership in health, Algeria has been chosen to host by 2020 the pole of excellence in biotechnology for Africa and the Middle East.
The trade between Algeria and the US soared to $5.2 billion during the first nine months of 2014, split between $3.07 billion of Algerian exports and $2.16 billion of US exports.
