Transportation Minister Hani Dahi

The Egyptian National Railways and the Chinese railways signed on Saturday a framework agreement to build a new USD 700 rail project in Alexandria governorate, northern Egypt.
The project involves the construction of a 22-kilometer railway that will be powered by electric traction. It will link downtown Alexandria with Abu Qir town.
The Chinese-funded project is a direct result of the successful visit of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to China last year, said Transportation Minister Hani Dahi.
The minister added that the project will help ease traffic congestion and pollution in the coastal city.
