Egypt is concerned over the latest developments in Burkina Faso, the Foreign Ministry said in a press release on Sunday.
The statement said Cairo is looking forward to the success of regional and international efforts aiming to restore stability to the country in order to hold the presidential elections and resume the transitional phase.
Egypt called on all factions in Burkina Faso to maintain the country's interests and the citizens' lives.
Meanwhile, the ministry assigned the Egyptian Embassy in Burkina Faso to check on the Egyptian expatriates in the African country and to urge them to stay away from dangerous areas.
Burkina Faso’s interim president Michel Kafando has been stripped of his powers after being taken hostage by the presidential security guards on Wednesday.
