November, 2016 (WAM)--Alongside the seventh edition of the international district cooling conference 2016, the International District Energy Association, IDEA, will organise an inaugural certified workshop for district cooling providers on Sunday, 13th November.

Also, a group of companies from around the world will showcase their latest achievements and advanced technologies in district energy at the trade exhibition that will be inaugurated the same afternoon.

The conference will continue until 15th November with a rich programme of presentations and meetings. The event, which will take place at Jumeirah Beach Hotel in Dubai, is hosted by Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation, Empower.

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, DEWA, and Dubai Supreme Council of Energy (DSCE), are sponsoring around 100 students from major UAE universities to attend the workshops and conference.

All registrants will have access to a world-class mobile app that enables on-line interaction among participants, provides real-time agenda updates and information exchange and access to all the technical presentations curated for the workshop and conference.

"First of all, we thank DEWA and DSCE for their generous sponsorship for interested university students to attend our conference. As a member of the Board of Directors of IDEA, our industry association is eager to enhance education and awareness among young people for the potential of district energy as a climate solution in cities. Moreover, it is a matter of pride for Empower to receive all these IDEA members and guests here in Dubai for another thought-provoking edition of the district cooling conference," Ahmad bin Shafar, Chief Executive Officer of Empower said.

"Throughout three days, we will discuss the climate question and the way we can contribute in turning our industry in a green field. Preparatory day will be dedicated to discuss the best practices in the district energy sector with several well-known experts and specialists. We are happy to be part of this," Bin Shafar added.

The workshops will focus on the best practices in district cooling system design, operation and optimisation, and their green applications. The distinguished model of Dubai will be dressed in details via the example of Dubai Carbon Centre of Excellence that is playing a leadership role in working closely with objectives of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, DSCE, and the United Nations Development Programme, UNDP.
