European Commission

The European Commission (EC)'s Humanitarian aid and Civil Protection department (ECHO) allocated 9 million euros to the World Food Programme (WFP) to provide urgent humanitarian assistance to the Sundanese people.

In a statement issued by the EC, Director of ECHO in Khartoum Jeroen Uytterschaut said that the humanitarian situation in Sudan is getting worse due to conflicts, natural disasters and lack of development.

The main reason behind the intervention of the EC in Sudan is to help and save children who suffer from malnutrition, he added.
