Eurozone

Unemployment in the Eurozone remained unchanged from November, at its seven-year low of 9.8%. 
It is the second consecutive month that the unemployment rate of the 19-member currency bloc remains unchanged. The number of people out of work registered in the Eurozone in December was roughly 15.9 million. DPA reported that the Eurostat said that jobless queues in the region fell by 15,000, with almost all member states reporting drops in unemployment. Unemployment in the Eurozone now stands at its lowest level since July 2009. 
Greece reported the highest unemployment rate in the region at 23.1% in the latest reading. Unemployment in Spain, the EU's fourth-largest economy remained at 19.2% . Germany has the lowest unemployment rate, at 4.1%. 
November unemployment in Italy edged up to 11.9%, a rise of 0.2% month-on-month. Youth unemployment in Italy rose to 39.4%. The term youth refers to people aged between 15-24.
