Minister of Finance Amr el Garhy will meet later in the day with a high-level delegation of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) headed by Vice President for Policy and Strategy Joachim von Amsberg.
In statements on Monday, Garhy said the visit of AIIB delegation is the first of its kind since its establishment in 2015. The visit aims at discussing investment opportunities in Egypt and mechanisms for financing some Egyptian infrastructure projects currently carried out by the government.
The minister also asserted that the AIIB delegation will meet with officials of the Suez Canal Economic Authority in view of the construction of the Suez Canal development corridor, one of the mega projects currently under construction by the Egyptian government, to probe investment potentials in the various sectors of interest to the Asian bank
