Sharm el-Sheikh - MENA
French Finance Minister Michel Sapin said on Saturday that Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi asked him to convey a message to French President François Hollande on boosting bilateral ties.
It is a friendly message and underlines keenness on promoting ties between Cairo and Paris, Sapin told MENA on the sidelines of the economic conference in Sharm El Sheikh.
He added that President Sisi renewed his invitation to his French counterpart to attend the inauguration of the New Suez Canal project.
Sapin stressed that the conference is regarded by France as a return for Egypt to the front scene and confirms the ongoing economic development in Egypt and the political will to carry out the required economic reforms.
He added that President Sisi lauded the deal of the Rafale jet fighters, which was recently signed between Egypt and France.
The deal is being implemented and the first batch of the fighters will be delivered to Egypt soon, he said.
The French minister said that he discussed with President Sisi the regional situation especially in Libya.
He voiced his country's interest in responding to the tenders which will be introduced as part of the Suez Canal corridor project.
