Cairo - MENA
The current visit of the high-level German economic delegation to Egypt comes after the success of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's visit to Germany in June, said Nader Riyad, head of the Egyptian side of the Egyptian-German Business Council.
There are several investment opportunities for the German companies to do business in Egypt including the Suez Canal Axis Development project, the energy projects and renewable energy, he added in statements Monday.
The German delegation represents 28 companies and funding institutions under former German transport minister Peter Ramzawr.
The five-day visit, which started yesterday, will include meetings with officials of the Egyptian government. The delegation will also pay a visit to Alexandria and Ismailia governorates.
Riyad, meanwhile, expected that the trade ties between the two countries will witness a huge leap within the upcoming period, especially in light of the German companies' keenness on investing in Egypt in energy, construction and the electronic city in the Suez Canal axis development project.
Economic relations between Cairo and Berlin are flourishing as the trade exchange between the two countries reached 4.4 billion euros in 2014.
German exports to Egypt hit 2.8 billion euros, while the Egyptian exports to Germany mounted to 1.6 billion euros.
