Tehran - KUNA
Deputy of German Chancellor and Minister of Economy and Energy Sigmar Gabriel arrived in Iran on Sunday on an official visit heading a highranking economic and business delegation.
The aim of the visit is to promote political, commercial and economic relations between the two countries, Iran's news agency (IRNA) reported.
"This is the first highranking European delegation visiting Tehran in the wake of the nuclear agreement with P5+1," Oil Ministry Director General for Europe, America and Caspian Sea Hossein Esmaili said.
Among the visiting delegation are representatives from 10 major German firms as well as SMEs specialized in hightech and industrial equipment who will meet their counterparts in the private and public sectors, he added.
The delegation is set to meet with Iran's ministers of oil, foreign affairs, energy and industries, and members of the Iran Chamber of Commerce.
The international agreement, which was made between Iran and the six world powers last week in Vienna, aims to ensure the Islamic Republic does not obtain nuclear weapons in return of lifting of economic sanctions.
