New Katerina, a bulk carrier that ran aground in Suez Canal, was re-floated, said the chairman of the waterway's operating body on Monday.

The success was achieved by own equipment of the Suez Canal Authority, said Mohab Mamish in a press release.

The re-floating process lasted for around one week, said Mamish. He asserted that navigation in the waterway has been returned to normal.

As many as 57 ships transited today, he said.
