French President Francois Hollande has called for holding an economic and social cooperation conference in countries overlooking the Mediterranean.

During a conference on climate change in this southern French city, Hollande said loss of natural resources due to climate change is a reason for the cross Mediterranean immigration.

Hundreds of people die on monthly basis due to attempts to illegally immigrate into Europe, he warned, noting that some facilitators are linked to terrorist organizations.
