Kuwait - KUNA
Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind Al-Sabeeh signed a joint program on labor with three UN organizations on the sidelines of the "Abu Dhabi Dialogu-3" for Asian labor importing and exporting states that kicked off here on Thursday.
The program seeks to enhance the capabilities of Kuwait's Public Authority for Manpower enabling it to obtain necessary sources and tools to build its evidence-informed policy-making ability. It will also foster the application of international labor criteria and charters.
In addition, the program will help modernize the inspection system of labor conditions as well as developing services relevant to occupational safety and health conditions.
The document was signed with the UN Development Program (UNDP), the International Migration Organization (IMO) and International Labor Organization (ILO).
UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative Mubashar Riaz Sheikh commended signing the "historical" document for organizing migrant labor, improving labor market and conditions, besides maintaining their rights in line with the relevant international criteria.
