Egypt's former minister of housing and population Moshira Khatab took part in a roundtable discussion here with International Monetary Fund Managing Director Christine Lagarde at an invitation from the Italian Foreign Ministry.
Addressing the roundtable, Lagarde asserted that Egypt is on the right track, citing the recent economic decisions of lifting subsidies on fuel and energy as a step on implementing other economic and financial reforms.
She also voiced hope that Egypt would continue in its reform process in all fields.
The IMF top official also said Egypt is a pivotal country that has a strong impact on the region and the whole world.
Meanwhile, Khatab called for adopting policies that could garner popular support for the fund's policies in the developing countries and spreading awareness about the role of IMF in such countries.
She also praised President Abdel Fattah El Sisi in taking tough economic decisions and embarking on a reform policy at such a critical time in Egypt's history.
Khatab also participated in a number of closed-door meetings including women leaders on the fringe of the IMF roundtable discussions.
