A ro-ro (roll-on/roll-off) agreement between Egyptian and Turkish ports expired on Thursday, spokesman of the Red Sea Ports Authority Abdel Rehim Mostafa said.

The three-year memo of understanding was signed between the two countries on 23 April 2012, the spokesman said.

Ro-ro ships are vessels designed to carry wheeled cargo like cars, trucks, trailers and railroad cars that are driven on and off the ship on their own wheels.

The agreement allows the use of Egyptian ports to ferry Turkish goods to Gulf states.
