Deputy Minister of Commerce and Investment for Foreign Trade Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Hagbani and Chairman of German Parliament’s Committee of Economic Affairs and Energy Peter Ramsauer during their meeting in Riyadh

Saudi Arabia and Germany, which enjoyed a bilateral trade of SR47 billion in 2015, vowed to take it to new heights in the coming years, during a meeting held at the Ministry of Commerce and Investment here on Tuesday.
Deputy Minister of Commerce and Investment for Foreign Trade Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Hagbani met Peter Ramsauer, chairman of German parliament’s Committee of Economic Affairs and Energy, German Ambassador Dieter Walter Haller and a group of representatives of German companies, at a meeting held to explore new areas of cooperation between the two countries.
The two parties reviewed the trade ties and the investment opportunities in the Kingdom, and new opportunities available for developing them, and stressed the need for enhancing cooperation in the fields of science and technology, as well as the role of the German partnership in supporting and motivating the developmental aspects.
During the meeting, there were discussions with representatives of German companies looking for investment in the new opportunities available under Saudi Vision 2030.
Member of Parliament Dagmar Gabriele Woehrl, chairwoman for Committee on Economic Cooperation and Development, and former economic and technology vice minister, also accompanied Ramsauer.
The delegation comprised more than 30 executives of major German companies as well as of SMEs.
Ramsauer and Woehrl met with a host of representatives of various Saudi ministries, including the vice ministers of health, commerce and investment and environment, water and agriculture as well as representatives of the Saudi economic and industrial sectors.
The former minister and his delegation also explored the possibilities of further cooperation between the two countries within the framework of Saudi Vison 2030 and the National Transformation Program 2020.
