President Abdel Fattah El Sisi had a meeting on Thursday with Wang Jiarui, Vice Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), on means on developing strategic partnership between Egypt and China.

The two sides discussed a number of regional issues and crises, Egypt's vision for the Syrian crisis and conditions in Libya and efforts to fight terrorism and extremism, Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Alaa Youssef said in statements. 

During the meeting, the senior Chinese legislator lauded Egypt's role in restoring stability in the region and containing the repercussions of these crises, the spokesman added.

Wang also conveyed Chinese President Xi Jinping's greetings to Sisi, deeming Egypt as one of the most important partners of China in the Middle East and Africa.

The Chinese official also underscored Egypt's efforts to maintain stability in the country over the past two years.

Shifting to Egyptian-Chinese ties, he said that they were remarkably developed over the past years and tantamount to an overall strategic partnership.

The exchange of visits between the two countries' presidents reflected their keenness on promoting bilateral cooperation, the Chinese official said.

He further underlined his country's interest in boosting trade and economic cooperation with Egypt, adding that his visit aimed at continuing consultations between the partisan institution in Cairo and Beijing.

Sisi, for his part, welcomed the Chinese official, hailing cooperation between the two countries at all levels, the spokesman said.

Sisi also underlined Egypt's keenness on consolidating strategic partnership between Egypt and China, he added.

The president also expressed Egypt's keenness on bolstering economic and investment cooperation with China in light of the national projects carried out in the country that Chinese companies could contribute to their implementation, the spokesman said.

The president also welcomed visits by the Chinese delegates to Egypt, citing a visit by Ji Bingxuan, the vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China, to Egypt in November.
