Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Tuesday visited the Singapore seaport to get acquainted with the working mechanisms of one of the world's largest and most important ports.
Head of the Port of Singapore Authority Fock Siew Wah gave Sisi a detailed account on the workflow of the port, operated electronically.
Cargoes are unloaded in 25 seconds thanks to the logistics of the port and electronic transport that now provides the basis for maritime transport progress.
Sisi expressed hope Egypt could benefit from the Singaporean experience in the establishment and management of seaports, and invited the head of the Port of Singapore Authority to visit Egypt to contribute to the transfer of know how and quay construction in the Sharq el Tafrieah hopefully to be built by the end of 2016.
Fock welcomed the invitation to transfer his know-know in port management.
Sisi and his accompanying delegation later had a meeting with Fock and other port officials to discuss cooperation with the Suez Canal Authority and the development of Egyptian ports especially the new ports to be built as part of the Suez Canal corridor that Egypt wishes to built according to the latest world standards.
