Vital supplies delivered

UN refugee agency, international humanitarian organizations and charitable societies have distributed food for more than 900,000 Syrian refugees during January this year, UNHCR said Monday.
Food supplies were also delivered to around 21,000 Palestinian refugees who fled from the conflict in neighboring Syria, in addition to 27,000 poor Lebanese people, UNHCR said in a statement.
It cited reports released by the Lebanese ministry of education that around 51,000 Syrian students were registered in Lebanese school, while 7,000 others were on the waiting list. There are already more than 36,000 Syrian students registered in elementary schools in Lebanon.
UNHCR said it was collaborating with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the UN children's fund (UNICEF) to vaccinate children against polio.
UNHCR estimates around 1.2 million Syrian refugees living in different parts of Lebanon.
Kuwait government and charitable societies have been contributing to alleviating suffering of the Syrian refugees in Lebanon and other neighboring countries, in addition to those displaced inside Syria.
Kuwait is set to host the 3rd internationl donors' conference for the Syrian people on March 31, part of the Arab Gulf country's contributions to alleviate suffering of Syrian people.
