US spirits producer Constellation Brands said Tuesday it will invest around $2 billion in northern Mexico to expand a brewery and glass production plant.
It will create "the most important beer plant in Latin America and the world," Mexican Economy Minister Ildefonso Guajardo said at an event announcing the investment in Nava, Coahuila state.
That will include creating 2,500 direct and 700 indirect jobs, and more than double beer production capacity.
Constellation sells Mexican brewer Grupo Modelo's beers such as Corona in the United States.
The US firm bought the Nava plant from Belgian-Brazilian beer giant Anheuser-Busch InBev in 2013.
