German Ambassador in Cairo Julius Georg Luy said the volume of cooperation between Egypt and Cairo amounted to 1.3 billion euros which focuses on the fields of water, energy and employment as well as administrative reform and urban development.
In statements to reporters late Tuesday at the German embassy premises in Cairo, the German ambassador said Egypt has been facing several political, economic and social challenges over the past few years along with the terrorist threats and daily attacks against civilians and troops.
Germany understands very well the risks facing Egypt and therefore Berlin supports Egypt to achieve stability, the ambassador said, adding that wars of the current time are nontraditional and there should be political, economic and social measures to combat them.
It is in Berlin's interest to help Egypt's efforts to enjoy stability and prosperity, explained the ambassador, noting that Germany has been cooperating with its Egyptian partners over the past years that witnessed uncertainty. Several projects have been implemented over the past years and partnership continued in several academic, economic, trade and investment domains, he added, noting that such sustained cooperation is the strongest proof on the strength of the two countries relations.
