The Egyptian trade representation office in Brazil's Sao Paulo city warned import companies against being e-scammed. The Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce received a report from the office about hackers intercepting emails exchanged between Egyptian and Brazilian companies, said FECC Secretary General Alaa Ezz. The hackers then purport to be the Brazilian company and send emails to the Egyptian side about changing its bank account and asks it to send money transfers to a new untraceable account, which is in a third country, Ezz said. The report advised Egyptian companies to take caution before sending any money to Brazilian dealers and make sure their information are correct. If any company has doubts, it can get back to the trade office in Sao Paulo to check on the data of the company/dealer under suspicion, he added.
