General Motors CEO in Egypt and North Africa Tarek Ata said the company is ready to contribute to the Egyptian government's project on supporting auto industry in Egypt as recommended by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
In statements to MENA Sunday on the sidelines of the Egypt Economic Development Conference (EEDC), Ata said General Motors has plans for increasing investments over the coming few years particularly that it was keen on carrying out investments in Egypt in the past years despite the unstable conditions.
The company's investments in Egypt over the past five years amounted to dlrs 80 million, he said.
The Egyptian market is a promising and a large one especially following the success of the company in 2014, he said, referring to selling around 61,000 vehicles.
Egypt has great investment opportunities particularly after such a great conference and in light of the Egyptian government's serious vision on the presented giant ventures, he said.
