South Korea's No. 2 automaker Kia Motors Corp. was ranked fifth in a recent US survey that reviewed global automakers and their cars' reliability, company officials said Tuesday.

    Kia Motors moved up a notch from a year earlier in the annual auto reliability survey conducted by the US-based magazine Consumer Reports, moving into the highest spot in the company's history, (Yonhap) news agency quoted the officials as saying.

    Hyundai Motor, the top automaker in South Korea and an affiliate of Kia Motors, also moved up two notches to take seventh place. It marked the second consecutive year both Hyundai and Kia have been ranked in the top 10. 

    Most of Hyundai and Kia vehicles received high marks in terms of reliability, while the Hyundai Grandeur, sold in the US as the Hyundai Azera, was named the most reliable car among large sedans, while Kia's K5 midsize passenger car was also named the top in its segment. The annual report reviewed some 300 vehicle models and 29 global carmakers, the officials said
