Oman Ammunition Production Company celebrated the handover of the first consignment of ammunition produced by the light weapons ammunition factory to the Ministry of Defence.

The ceremony was held under the auspices of Mohammed bin Nasser Al Rasbi, Secretary General of the Ministry of Defence and Chairman of the Board of Directors at the company’s premises in the Wilayat of Sumail in the Governorate of A’ Dakhiliyah. 

The foundation stone for the factory, a direct investment by the security and army pension funds, was laid on March 26 2015 and production started late in 2016.

The factory is one of the vital projects in the region as it is provided with modern technologies to produce ammunition as per international quality standards.

The factory design takes into consideration the vocational safety and security, environment requirements.

The Factory will open new fields for the Omani industry and provide business opportunities to SMEs. It will also create job and training opportunities for Omanis as the Omanisation rate at the factory is 100 per cent.

The event was attended by a number of senior SAF officers and factory officials.
