British energy services firm Petrofac has won a gas contract worth almost $1.0 billion (730 million euros) in the Reggane basin of the Algerian Sahara desert, it said Friday. "Petrofac ... has been awarded a 36 months, of execution, contract worth more than $970 million for the gas gathering, treatment and export facilities package of the Reggane North Development Project (Reggane)," the group said in a brief statement. The project is located 1,500 kilometres (932 miles) south-west of Algeria's capital city Algiers.
