South Korean tech company Samsung was fined $354,900 by the Federal Trade Commission for impeding a price-rigging investigation, officials say. The official investigation sought to determine whether or not Samsung, as well as other tech companies, were colluding to inflate cellphone prices while advertising significant discounts. The FTC found top Samsung officials destroyed crucial files and denied access to investigators, hindering the investigation. The FTC told Yonhap News Agency the 400 million won ($354,900) fine was the highest levied upon any company hindering an official investigation.
