Samsung Electronics Co.'s mobile brand of Galaxy retained its top spot in this year's local best brand rankings despite the production halt of the latest Galaxy Note 7 phablet line, South Korea's News Agency (Yonhap) reported. 
Brand Stock, a South Korean market research firm that determines the rankings of local brands, said in its latest poll that the Samsung Galaxy earned 924.2 points on a scale of 1,000 in terms of its Brand Stock Top Index (BSTI). 
The brand lost some 10 points from 934.7 points tallied a year earlier due mainly to the Galaxy Note 7, which faced an unprecedented production termination sparked by its batteries overheating and catching fire.
