The lengthy procedure to obtain a 3G technology licence has finally come to an end with the signing of a deal between Tunisiana and the Tunisian Technologies and Communications Ministry, which had halted its progress for a number of months. Signing the document were Minister Mongi Marzouk and the General Director of the telecommunications company, Kenneth Campbell. The amount which Tunisiana will pay for the licence is 205 million dinars, to which costs will be added relating to a series of investments in many parts of the country, both for technology training and for the development of the 3G and fixed-line network. An initial offer by Tunisiana had been deemed insufficient by the ministry, which had therefore brought in another tender in which the operator raised the amount. (ANSAmed).
